This is the first book in a FaithGirlz fiction series. It features Riley Mae who is a sweet Christian girl. Her faith is central to each book in the series and is displayed in her words and actions. Our daughter read all four of these books extremely quickly and greatly enjoyed them.

Be the Best Mom You Can Be: A Pracitical Guide to Raising Whole Children in a Broken Generation – Marina Slayton
This is a solid parenting book that is filled with practical advice and real world examples. Written with a Christian parenting perspective and a highly conversational tone, it is an easy read but provides a lot to think about for the reader. The questions and reflections at the end of each section provide a nice wrap of the material presented.

Pandora the Curious (Goddess Girls) – Joan Holub and Suzanne Williams
Loosely based on Greek Myths, the Goddess Girl Series is a winner. These mystery/adventure stories are highly enjoyable and make for a quick read. Our soon to be third grader has devoured this series.
The Blender Girl Smoothies – Tess Masters
The Blender Girl Smoothies is filled with smoothie recipes that are easy and delicious. The book includes a wide array of recipes as well as a lot information about different ingredients and how they can enhance the taste and texture of your creations. Unfortunately, many of them really pack a high number of calories which is not what I am looking for in a smoothie.

Way Back Wednesday ~ The Hundred Dresses – Eleanor Estes
My daughter and I read this book last summer, and we are still talking about it.
The Hundred Dresses tells a thought provoking tale about peer pressure. Although written in the 1940’s it is sadly still highly relevant. Although a short book, there is great depth to this story, and I chose to partner read it with our daughter. It served as the catalyst for some excellent discussion about friends and friendship. Even as an adult I found the story compelling and haunting. It really sticks with you.
