Ninja Bunny – Jennifer Gray Olson

Our daughter is very involved in Tae Kwon Do so this this little picture book caught her attention when we were at the library.  Ninja Bunny is a cute story that features a bunny that wants to be the very best ninja ever.  As he works on improving his ninja skills, he learns that great ninjas need great ninja friends in order to be as successful as possible.  Ninja Bunny provides an entertaining story with a great message about the importance of friendship.

Raising Grateful Kids in an Entitled World: How One Family Learned that Saying No Can Lead to Life’s Biggest Yes – Kristen Welch

I enjoy Kristen Welch’s parenting blog (We are THAT Family) and looked forward to reading her new book.  It did not disappoint!  Welch does a terrific job tackling why we do our children a disservice by giving them too much and how to help develop a healthy life perspective in our children through service and hard work all within the context of a faith filled home.

God Is With You Everyday – Max Lucado

I really like Max Lucado’s writing so I was very eager to get his new devotional – God Is With You Everyday.  Each week features a prayer and scriptures coupled with daily readings that are snippets from many of Lucado’s previously published books.  These brief devotions serve as a great way to start the day.  The devotional also features both a topical index as well as the scriptural index which are terrific resources.

Tough as They Come – Travis Mills and Marcus Brotherton

Travis Mills is truly an American hero.  His story displays an amazing love for our country and an incredible will to not only survive but thrive after the unthinkable happened during his third tour of duty in Afghanistan.  A victim of an IED blast days before his twenty-fifth birthday, Travis survived but became a quadruple amputee.  Although an interesting read throughout, the final third of the book that details the rehabilitation process and life for Travis and his family now was particularly compelling.

The Hero’s Guide to Saving Your Kingdom – Christopher Healy

Our daughter really enjoyed The Hero’s Guide to Saving Your Kingdom.  This re-examination of the fairy tale world introduces the reader to all of those unnamed Prince Charming characters.  Not only does one get to learn their real names but also their views and opinions.  Filled with silly as well as clever humor, this one is a winner!
