Ordering Your Private World – Gordon MacDonald

Ordering your Private World is a time management book but not in the usual sense.  Rather than helping one figure out how to find time and organize all the commitments one has from a family, a career, and activities, this book focuses on ordering the internal and specifically ordering your life from a Christian point of view.  This revised and updated version also includes a study guide which is an outstanding resource as one explores this text.

The Awakening of HK Derryberry: My Unlikely Friendship with the Boy Who Remembers Everything – Jim Bradford and Andy Hardin

This sweet tale is a quick read, but it will really make you think about the potential you have to positively impact others.  I loved Jim Bradford’s straight-forward account of his unique friendship with HK.  It was heartwarming and inspiring.

Brave Beauty: Finding the Fearless in You (Faithgirlz) – Lynn Cowell

Brave Beauty is a terrific devotional for tween girls that focuses on becoming a courageous and confident girl.  Each devotional entry provides scripture and a story that a young girl can easily relate to plus a short activity.  The final portion of each devotional includes a prayer.  This devotional would make a lovely gift for a special young lady.

Rule of Law – Randy Singer

Rule of Law is a new release by Randy Singer.  It takes a behind the scenes look at international events questioning if our country’s leaders are acting outside the rule of law.  I am not traditionally a reader of this genre, but I was hooked within paragraphs of starting to read this suspenseful, adventure thriller.  Singer has created a novel that takes the reader on a thrill ride of twists and turns.  I highly recommend coming along for the ride and reading Rule of Law.

Some Kind of Courage – Dan Gemeinhart

Our daughter found the display for the 2017-2018 Bluebonnet Award nominees at the library and has been faithfully reading through them.  Some Kind of Courage has been one of her favorites.  It is a historical fiction book that will literally have you at the edge of your seat as you read it.  Some Kind of Courage is beautifully written and highlights the importance of strength, determination, and character.

Raising Dragons (Dragons in Our Midst, Book 1) – Bryan Davis

I came across the Dragons in Our Midst series and knew that these would be a hit with our daughter who loves reading fantasy books.  This series focuses on the struggle of good vs. evil but unlike most fantasy books, it is written from a Christian perspective.  Filled with action and excitement, the Dragons in Our Midst Series is a winner!
