The Book of Comforts: Genuine Encouragement for Hard Times – Faires, Faires, Wernet, and Wilder

The Book of Comforts is a very special book.  Whether you use it for short daily readings or simply read it, the power of God’s promises are beautifully shared.  This book would make a wonderful gift for a family member or friend who is dealing with difficulties.

I Don’t Want to Go to Sleep – Dev Petty

A recent trip to the library allowed for the discovery of a few new Dev Petty books.

I Don’t Want to Go to Sleep features our froggy friend from I Don’t Want to be a Frog puzzling over how frogs get to spend the winter.  Initially, our frog friend wants to spend the winter having fun in the snow and drinking hot cocoa and then snuggling up by the fire in a blanket.  The other animals gently explain that frogs hibernate like bears but do so in the mud rather than a cave.  The frog comes to understand the importance of hibernating and brings his friends along to join him.

Way Back Wednesday ~ I Don’t Want to be a Frog – Dev Petty

This review was originally posted on May 18, 2015.

Our daughter is crazy about frogs and was a bit skeptical when she saw this book. The story focuses on a frog who isn’t very comfortable in his own green skin. He imagines life would be much better as a cat, or a pig, or perhaps an owl. The little frog ultimately learns that being a frog holds is own unique rewards.
