Safe and Sound: Standing Firm in Spiritual Battles – David Powlison

This small book is filled with tremendous wisdom and insight about spiritual warfare.  Written from a Christian perspective, the book of Ephesians is explored within the text.  Although this book is focused more as a resource for someone who would serve as a pastoral care counselor, it is an interesting read for anyone interested in the topic of spiritual warfare.

Gus Loses His Grip – David Powilson

Gus Loses His Grip is another great book from the Good News for Little Hearts Series.  In this book, Gus struggles with his sweet tooth and his desire for more and more treats which ultimately leads to not only sneaking treats into his room but stealing from a local store.  Written from a Christian perspective, this book is an outstanding resource in helping children recognize how to handle situations when one wants something too much.  As is the case for all books in this series, a section that includes additional support for parents to have further discussion with their children as well as a listing of relevant Bible verses is included.
