The Short Giraffe is a sweet story about accepting differences. Although written for young learners (preschool and kindergarten), this little gem could be easily used with older students. The pictures are darling and really enhance the text.
Forest Has a Song is a wonderful celebration of the outdoors presented in poems. The fact that a long haired brunette little girl is the person exploring the outdoors throughout the book simply delighted our daughter. She kept on telling me that the little girl in the book was her. Forest Has a Song would be a great resource for introducing poetry in the elementary classroom. The pictures truly enhance the text. This one is worth a look!
I hope the Easter Bunny placed a few good books in your Easter basket. The Easter Bunny always leaves a book for each member of our family. Our little lady received Going Places. It is a terrific tale about a go-cart making contest which highlights creativity, team work, and taking chances. This one is a winner!
Our daughter has a great appreciation for the outdoors. Walking home from school often becomes a “nature walk” for us, and her passion and excitement for sticks, leaves and pods seems to be growing with age. I knew when I saw the front cover of Maple that more investigation was needed. I was not disappointed.
Maple is a little girl whose parents planted a Maple tree in her honor when she was “just a whisper”. Throughout the story we are able to see a friendship grow between Maple and her tree. Every season brings new joys and new challenges and her tree is there every step of the way.
Beautiful pictures and sweet text make this a new favorite at our home!
Our daughter has continued to gobble up any and all books she can find by Roald Dahl. James and the Giant Peach is her most recent find, and it delighted her. As a Mom, I love the quality of writing that she is enjoying. Dahl does a wonderful job creating imaginative, suspense filled adventures. This is a classic worth reading again!
The Young Women of Faith Bible is designed specifically for tween and teen girls. It features weekly Bible studies that apply Bible truths to daily life. There are side notes throughout the text which provide additional explanation for the reader and a memory challenge section which highlights meaningful verses. The way this Bible is formatted encourages one to want to read and study the word of God. This Bible is an excellent option for girls nine and older.

Poor Monster is looking for love. He quickly finds that everyone loves cute, fluffy creatures like kittens and bunnies but finding love as a hairy, googly-eyed monster is rather difficult. Just as little monster is about to give up on finding love, everything changes and love finds him. Great text combined with darling illustrations make this a terrific read-a-loud to share with someone special!
The Noisy Paint Box is amazing. This book shares the story of artist Vasya Kandinsky. The story is well told, and the pictures are stunning. Well, I really liked the first Weelicious cookbook so I had to check out the second one, and I think I may even like it better than the first! It is easy to get in a lunch making rut when it comes to packing lunches for little ones. This cookbook provides a ton of fun, healthy, innovative ideas. The chocolate chip granola bars are a new pantry staple for us. They are delicious. easy and nut-free.
Our daughter has quickly become a huge Roald Dahl fan. Her new find is Fantastic Mr. Fox. As an animal lover, she adored the idea of a group of animals outsmarting a group of mean people. After finishing this book, she promptly decided to re-read it not just once but twice. Needless to say, this is a new favorite.
