Treasury of Bible Stories ~ Rhythmical Rhymes of Biblical Times (Magnificent Tales Series) – Kelly Pulley

This treasury of Bible stories is beautifully put together.  The illustrations are engaging and colorful, and the rhyming text is fun to read.  I have to admit I was a bit hesitant about a rhyming Bible story book.  To my delighted surprise, the rhyming verse is well done, and it really does add to the enjoyment of the stories for young readers.  As soon as I opened up the box for this book, our daughter was quick to take it into the family room and snuggle up and start reading…Enough said!

Get to Know Jesus – Nancy I. Sanders

After enjoying a couple of other Get to Know biographies, I was very fortunate to be given another book from the series to review for my blog.

Get to Know Jesus is another outstanding biography for children.  The introduction of historical information presented in such an interesting and engaging way makes this another winner.  The full color pictures and the variety of specialized sections within the text that feature interesting facts, maps, and scripture are all very well done.

The Blessings of Friendship Treasury – Mary Engelbreit

The Blessings of Friendship Treasury is a delightful volume of Engelbreit’s artwork coupled with quotes and Bible verses about friendship.  I love that this book is a large picture book size.  You can enjoy all of the details in the art work, and it has been fun to read and discuss with our daughter.  This book would make a lovely gift for a sweet friend.

My Blue Bunny Bubbit – Maggie Smith

My Blue Bunny Bubbit is a very sweet tale.  Bubbit the Bunny is a “cuddle buddy” that was made by grandma and is well loved.  The arrival of a new brother brings the opportunity to make a special “cuddle buddy” just for him.  Grandma helps the proud new sister make a very special corduroy elephant which will be a “cuddle buddy” for their newest family member.  Bubbit the Bunny even gets to help them with their crafting!

Way Back Wednesday ~ The Kissing Hand – Audrey Penn

This post is a flash from the past.  It was originally published in 2011.

The Kissing Hand is an old favorite to read at the start of the school year.  Little Chester Raccoon is hesitant to leave his mother’s side and go to school.  She assures him that he will love school once he is busy playing with new toys, new books, and new friends.  She also shares a special secret that has been in their family for years – the kissing hand.  The kissing hand allows a little love from home to be with Chester at all times and gives him the confidence he needs to tackle his first day of school.  Quite simply a heartwarming story that provides true comfort to little ones and perhaps a few Mommies and Daddies too!

The Circle Maker for Kids: One Prayer Can Change Everything – Mark Batterson

The Circle Maker for Kids: One Prayer Can Change Everything is a children’s version of the adult best seller The Circle Maker.  This book shares the story of Honi the Rainmaker which comes from Jewish legend and focuses on the power of prayer.  The amazing illustrations cannot help but pull in the reader, and the impact and influence of prayer are powerfully shown through the text.
