Prayers and Answered Prayers is really two small journal books in one.  One of the books features prompts for the reader to use for prayers while the other focuses on answered prayers.  Each page is produced with an eye catching fun format and there are lots of spaces provided to color, add your own thoughts and ideas as well as draw.  Both volumes are housed in a super sparkly floral cover that would certainly appeal to tween and teen girls. This would make a terrific Christmas gift!

The Radical Book for Kids is an amazing resource.  It explores the Bible, faith, church history, and life in a thoughtful and engaging way that is perfect for tweens and teens.  Illustrations throughout the book truly enhance the text.  This gem would make a great gift.

Cold-Case Christianity for Kids: Investigate Jesus with a Real Detective – J. Warner Wallace

J. Warner Wallace is the well-known homicide detective who specialized in cold-cases.  His journey to Christianity came as a result of using his own detective skills to investigate the Bible and the life of Christ.  He wrote the popular book Cold-Case Christianity which was targeted to adults.  This version is specifically for kids from 8-12 years-old and is excellent.  I love that this resource encourages kids to think critically about why they believe what they believe.

This research based book about dating is a must read for parents.  It provides a terrific support to help parents guide their daughters through the potentially treacherous waters of teen dating.  Truth be told, a lot of the wisdom provided in the text is really good information about developing and building healthy relationships in general.  This is a great resource!

Girl Talk: 52 Weekly Devotions – Lois Walfrid Johnson

Girl Talk is a terrific weekly devotional that is targeted to middle school girls.  Each section includes a Bible passage and a story and then questions for further thought that are divided up so that each day one has a question or two to think about and answer.  There is ample space within the book to use as a place to answer the questions as well as journal.  This devotional would be a wonderful gift for a middle school girl.

Today our daughter is providing her first official review to the blog.

Miracle in Music City is part of the Faithgirlz series.  It provides a good lesson about the importance of being brave and taking risks.  I really enjoyed it.  It was an awesome book!

We love the Brave Girls series of devotionals.  This is the third in the series, and our daughter was very excited when it arrived in the mail.  These little devotionals provide a scripture verse and a few paragraphs about what that verse might look like in action at home, school, and beyond.  Each section also includes a short prayer pointer.  I have found this to be a great way for my daughter and I to start our mornings together over breakfast.  These devotional books are absolutely perfect for elementary age girls.

Backwards Beauty: How to Feel Ugly in 10 Simple Steps – Jessie Minassian

Backwards Beauty is a great book specifically targeted for teen girls.  The book explores beauty and the often ridiculous things we do to try to attain it.  The conversational style of the author makes the text extremely engaging and fun to read.  Ultimately, the book compares the concept of beauty as presented by the media and the world around us with how true beauty is described and defined within scripture.  This book would make a terrific resource for a middle school/high school girl’s Bible study.

Mary, Did You Know? is a picture book version of the popular Christmas song with the same name.  The illustrations are stunning, and the scriptural references on each page along with song lyrics are a thought provoking combination.  This is a new favorite for our family!
