Dream Animals is an absolutely wonderful bedtime story. As each child in the story starts to slumber, he/she is met by a special dream animal who transports the child to a magical world of dreams. The rhyming text is well done, but the illustrations take center stage in this book. They are amazing. I found that I enjoyed lingering over each page to look at all the details as much as our daughter did. Dream Animals is a delight!
The Painted Table – Suzanne Field
The Painted Table would make a great selection for a book club pick. It is a rich novel which explores mental illness and provides the reader with a great deal to process. A strongly emotional tale, this book is well written and highly engaging. I found I kept coming back to the book whenever I could in order to find out what happened next in the lives of these characters; I genuinely cared about them.
While this complimentary book was provided for review by Litfuse Publicity Group, no other compensation was given. All remarks are my personal and honest opinions.
Poppy the Piano Fairy – Daisy Meadows
Our daughter is crazy about this fairy book series. There are LOTS of different titles, and they feature fairies that befriend a wide variety of animals as well as play instruments and participate in lots of exciting and fun adventures. These are enjoyable independent reading books that build fluency and confidence in young readers.
The After-Christmas Tree – Linda Wagner Tyler
It is always a bit sad to take down the Christmas tree. This charming book features the story of a family who shares their tree after the holiday season comes to an end. They “decorate” their Christmas tree with homemade bird feeders and other treats and then take the tree outside for the animals to enjoy. Our little animal loving daughter really liked this story!

Merry Christmas!
The Donkey’s Christmas Song – Nancy Tafuri
This is such a sweet retelling of the Christmas story. It features the welcoming of Baby Jesus by all of the animals in the barn. Beautiful pictures bring the story to life.
Way Back Wednesday #3 – The Day the Crayons Quit
Looking for a picture book that is smart and funny…Here is a winner!
The Day the Crayons Quit is laugh out loud funny for children and adults. We LOVE this book! The book consists of letters from each of Duncan’s crayons explaining why each one of them feels a strike is necessary. Coupled with each letter is a picture which depicts how Duncan uses that particular color and provides support for the crayon’s argument. This books is clever and engaging. It has become a beloved favorite at our house.
Shall I Knit You a Hat? – Kate Klise
Shall I Knit You a Hat? is a sweet tale of friendship and highlights the power of giving to others. With stormy weather on the way, Mother Rabbit knits an extra special hat for her Little Rabbit to ensure that he stays warm and cozy. Little Rabbit decides that all of his friends would benefit from specially designed hats which would be the perfect Christmas gifts. With Mother Rabbit’s knitting skills and Little Rabbit’s designs, each hat is made specifically to keep each animal toasty warm. The animals are not quite sure about them at first, but soon they realize they are indeed perfect for each one of them.
